Découverte hasardeuse durant les premiers émois photographiques, les aléas de ce boitier inaugurèrent un élan de sérendipité. L’enrayement aléatoire du rideau perturbe la supposée acuité photographique pour l’inscrire dans un regard singulier et en dialogue avec l’apparatus. Dévoilant sa matérialité, l’image se déplace de la représentation paysagère vers une expérience topographique réellement vécue, à l’unisson du corps du photographe. La marche physique résonne avec le déroulement du film, avec ses pauses, syncopes, et glissement. La froideur mécanique se teinte de gestes manuels subjectifs, au fait des dérives de l’appareil, les provoquant jusqu’au point limite de l’image.
A chance discovery during my early days of photography, the vagaries of this camera sparked a wave of serendipity. The random jamming of the shutter disrupts the supposed photographic acuity, inscribing it in a singular gaze and in dialogue with the apparatus. Revealing its materiality, the image shifts from landscape representation to a truly lived topographical experience, in unison with the photographer's body. The physical walk resonates with the unfolding of the film, with its pauses, syncopations, and shifts. The mechanical coldness is tinged with subjective manual gestures, aware of the camera's drifts, provoking them to the limit of the image.
